Abstract
As in the civilian population, low back pain (LBP) is a common complaint among Navy personnel seeking medical attention. After a thorough history and physical examination, some NSW personnel presenting with LOP to the medical department of Special Boat Squadron TWO (SBR-2) in Norfolk. VA, were found to have a leg length inequality (LLI) or physiologically "short leg." Thirty-five of these individuals were treated with a heel lift. The lift was placed in the shut corresponding to what was determined to be the "short leg" side. These individuals experienced either complete or significant relief of their musculoskeletal complaints.
