Abstract

This study was performed to determine, through the use of contrast echocardiography, the incidence of tricuspid valvular regurgitation, in patients with severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Of the 25 patients studied, only 1 (4 percent) had detectable tricuspid regurgitation. Contrast echocardiography seems to be a sensitive, reliable method for qualitative evaluation of tricuspid insufficiency in patients with chronic lung disease.
